Meet Dr. Ben Samuelson
Dr. Ben Samuelson earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Auburn University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He then attended the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, earning his Doctorate of Dental Medicine. While in dental school, he was the president of his dental class and received numerous awards, including the Dean’s Medal. The Dean's Medal is known as the most coveted honor presented to a member of the graduating class, personally selected and presented by the Dean.
Upon graduation, Dr. Ben was awarded the Alumni Leadership Award and was also inducted into the OKU national honorary dental fraternity. From there, he continued at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, where he completed his orthodontic residency program, served as chief resident, and earned his Masters of Science in Orthodontics. The residency program includes advanced education in biomedical, behavioral and basic sciences, giving Dr. Ben the complex skills required to manage tooth movement (orthodontics), guide facial development (dentofacial orthopedics), understand facial surgery (surgical orthodontics) and diagnose and treat many other problems related to the head and neck. Dr. Ben then went on to become a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Ben maintains professional memberships in the American Dental Association, American Board of Orthodontics, American Association of Orthodontists, and Southern Association of Orthodontists. He enjoys attending continuing education courses and staying up-to-date on the newest advancements in orthodontics.
Dr. Ben feels strongly about giving back to his profession and community. Since graduating, he has continued his affiliation with University of Alabama School of Dentistry, where he serves as volunteer faculty to dental students and residents in the orthodontics residency clinic. Dr. Ben enjoys volunteering at school events and participating in sponsorships to support patients and their families within the community.
Since every patient is different, orthodontists face technical and creative challenges every day. "Being an orthodontist has given me the opportunity to simultaneously work with individuals of all different walks of life, forming long lasting relationships, while channeling my creativity, modern science and technology to meet the needs of each individual," Dr. Ben said. Dr. Ben and his team are committed to providing the highest-quality patient care, focusing on creating customized treatment plans for every patient. Samuelson Orthodontics is a practice known for its family-centered environment and the relationships built with patients and their families.
Dr. Ben and his wife, Mallory, live in Hoover and have one son, Beckett, who keeps them busy and having fun! Dr. Ben enjoys woodworking and spending time with family and friends. He is also an avid sports fan and loves coaching youth sports.
