It's more than just anti-aging!
BOTOX®, which we will refer to as Botox, is well-known among anti-aging enthusiasts for its ability to reduce age lines along the lips and face. But it has also gained traction as a treatment option for relieving pain caused by TMJ, tooth grinding, and migraines.
What is Botox?
Botox refers to Botox injections, which are FDA-approved to temporarily smooth moderate to severe crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines in adults. Because of its positive impact on migraine sufferers, Botox has become the #1 prescribed branded treatment for chronic migraines.
How does Botox work?
Botox injections, which are small and feel like tiny pinches, work by temporarily relaxing tense muscles and reducing their movement. From an anti-aging perspective, this helps reduce facial wrinkles. For patients suffering from migraines, TMJ, and tooth grinding, relaxing the muscles helps alleviate pain caused by jaw and muscle tension.
Botox injections are administered in our Hoover and Cullman offices. Treatments do not take a significant amount of time to administer and require minimal downtime. Migraine treatments, for example, may only take 10 minutes.
What conditions can be treated with Botox?
Our providers are trained to use Botox to alleviate pain from TMJ, teeth grinding, and migraines. They can also enhance and reshape your smile, treat high lip lines, and diminish lip and aging face lines.
How long will I have relief?
Over time, Botox wears off, and the muscles will regain movement. Results generally last 3-4 months, but it varies by patient. Some patients will come in for additional injections after two months, while others can wait six months! Your unique needs and recommendations from your provider will determine the frequency of treatment.
